On the 25th and 26th September the Regiment was inspected by Major General Wardlaw, C.B and Lieut. Col. Godman had great pleasure in informing the Regiment that the Major General had expressed him- self highly pleased with the appearance of both the men and horses and perfectly satisfied with the riding and efficiency of the men in the Field and the discipline in quarters, the Major General remarked particularly upon the manner in which the Tymnastic exercises were carried out which reflected great credit on Serjeant Major Ducie and his assistants, he was also especially pleased with the Sketches and Reports executed by the Non Commissioned Officers and men who had attended the voluntary sketching class which had been most satisfactorily conducted by Lieut. J. O. Lambert and he would not fail to note it in his Report to Head Quarters. The Lieut Col. hoped that Non Com.- missioned Officers and men would take advantage of the winter season to perfect themselves in the duties of reconnaissance, and thanked all ranks for the assistance they had rendered him in maintaining the efficiency of the Regiment. 1874 |
