TClub’s first team gained a
'very creditable 2—1 home
victory over Cannock last
Saturday. Ior they were
without the services of three
of their regular forwards and
their visitors had not been
defeated for over two years.
North Stat’t‘ords were unlucky

LACROSSE NOTES
FROM OUR SPECIAI CORRESPONDENT
I Southern lacrosse E growing in popularity.
§and a most intersstiiig plan for drawing the
'attention of a wider public to the game is now
fin the negotiation stage. This is a suggestion
’that a short game might precede the Rugby
match on some of the big occasions at
,Twickenham.
The idea has much to commend it. Not
only would it help lacrosse, but it would also
assist the Rugby Uhion by providing an attrac-
tion for spectators who spend anything up to
an hour awaiting the kick-OR. The rubber
shoes worn by the players would not damage
the turf: no special lines being required, the
fact that the pitch was marked out for Rugby
would inconvenience no one: and lacrosse
goals can be erected and dismantled in a few
lseconds. A leaflet inserted in the programme
could explain the main points of what is
basically a simple game, easy to follow.
Colonel F. D. Prentice, secretary of the
Rugby Union, must await the decision of his
committee before replying; but there is reason
lto think that the plan will receive sympathetic
consideration The Union may suggest a trial
at another Rugby centre—possibly the Rich-
mond Athletic ground.
