The chief work of the year has been to stimulate, by means of circulars and literature, the Lancashire Branches in opposing the Licensing Bills which have been before Parliament; and in protesting against the present Government Licensing Bill. The L.C.U. sent out a circular in March with regard to Coroners’ inquests being held, where possible, in places other than public-houses. Within the last month a paid organizer has been sent out to strengthen weak districts, and, where possible, to form new Branches.
