In the December meeting :—
That this Committee desires to express its deepest sympathy with Mrs
Price Hughes and her family in the great bereavement they have
sustained in the death of the Rev. Hugh Price Hughes, also to record
its sense of the loss especially to the West London
Mission
and to the religious cause, and to all good movements in the
country.”
“That this Committee expresses its sympathy with the deacons and
church of the City Temple in the loss they are feeling so deeply in
the death of their pastor, Dr. Parker.”
“That a vote of sympathy be passed with Miss Edith Wilson, Superin-
tendent of the Loyal Temperance Legion, in her long and serious
illness.”
A suggestion was made in this meeting that it would be advisable to
set apart a sum of money for the better working of the Departmental
system.
After
discussion
the subject was postponed for further
consideration at a future conference on Departmental work.
In the February meeting a letter was read from Miss Hawkins
expressing regret that she was unable to undertake the superintendency
of the Department for Coffee Houses and Coffee Carts.
In the April meeting the ballot for nomination of Superintendents
was taken.
‘The list will be presented to the Annual Council for the
election ballot.

REPRESENTATIVES.
Representatives from the N.B.W.T.A. have attended the following
meetings :—Autumnal Meeting National Temperance Federation (Man-
chester), Annual Meeting National Temperance
Federation (London),
Conference convened by the Central Temperance Legislatian Board ve
Mr. Butcher's Bill providing Compensation for Publicans, Sunday
Closing Conference, National Union of Women Workers.
Sus-COMMITTEE.
In the February meeting :—
“That the National Executive Committee of the N.B.W.T.A. record
their deep feeling of the loss sustained by the Temperance cause in
the death of the most Reverend.and Right Honourable Frederic
Temple,
D.D,,
Lord
Archbishop
of
Canterbury,
who
for
so many
years has been one of its most trusted and capable leaders.

DEPARTMENTS.
In the December meeting the following suggestions were made in
regard to some of the departments for whom no superintendents had
been found :—
Scientific Temperance Instruction in Schools.—-To be placed in the
charge of the Special Committee on Temperance Examination Papers,
until a National Superintendent be appointed.
Work in Sunday Schools.—Mrs. McDonald to be superintendent.
Choirs. —To be placed under the care of the Y’s.
Coffee House and Coffee Carts.—Miss
Hawkins, of Ealing, to be
asked to be Superintendent.
The Sub-Committee has held five meetings during the year.
The

The irregularity of the meetings of the Committee must account for the
small number of attendances of some
members.

transacted has been reported to the National Executive Committee.
