Good afternoon everyone, thank you for joining us here live at the ARA annual conference in Leeds. As we announce the winners of the 2019 TWA digitization grant. My name is Paul Sugden, and I'm the Managing Director at Town's Web Archiving. I'm also one of the judges for the grant. Before I get started, I would like to say a huge thank you to our two other judges, John Chambers, Chief Executive to the ARA, and Claire Adler, Heritage Fund appointed mentor and independent heritage consultant. Both once again have given a great deal of their time and attention to read through each and every shortlisted application in order to make this a fair and equitable process for all involved. They've provided professional and insightful feedback and in the spirit of all things archival, ensured that we're ready to release the results at today's esteemed conference. So now, it's time to announce the winners. Starting with the winner of the secondary digitization grant for 3000 pounds. And this goes to. The Alpine Club Library. This project enables the digitization of a unique collection of club papers of enormous historical importance to mountaineering historians. So a huge congratulations to you. We'll shortly provide more information about this project on our website, but for now, a very well done. And that means it's now time to announce the winner of our primary digitization grant of 6000 pounds. And I'm very pleased to announce that this goes to. The National Brewery Heritage Trust. Uh, this project enables the digitization of posters, architectural plans, maps, and glass plate negatives, all providing a fascinating insight into the British brewing industry. So, a massive congratulations to you. You're up against many high caliber applications, so a huge achievement. Well done. We'll be in touch with both organizations very shortly, and I for one can't wait to see the results. We'll also be getting in touch with all of the shortlisted candidates in the next week or so to discuss the individual offers of 500 pounds match funding. In the meantime, head over to our blog in the next day or so to find out more about these fascinating, winning projects. So that concludes our grant for yet another year. Well done, and thank you to everyone who applied. The time and effort that you put in was evidently clear, and if you weren't successful, then please don't be disheartened. There's always 2020. Thank you. |
